Just a little Christmas crafting

Yeah so I am being awesome and POSTING all my Christmas cards this year for the very first time. YAY for snail mail! This is because

  1. I haven't given Christmas cards in a while and I kind of miss it
  2. I can't see everyone I would like to give them to (I also won't be bothered to visit everyone individually, mostly cause I would have to use public transport to get everywhere)
  3. It takes less time to go to the post office once then see everyone.
  4. AND I'm not going to be in the state over Christmas/New Years :)
Not to mention that mail is FUN! :)

And now me being, well me, I thought that I would make my own Christmas cards!

The design and all are pretty much done just need to finish the last half. THEN I have to make the envelopes...
Just some of my materials

I really need to get these done before the week is out. Need to post them before the end of the week. I leave for Melbourne on FRIDAY!!!

I suppose I could post them from there seeing as domestic postage will cost the same but I would like it to arrive around Christmas time (if I posted it today it would probably all get mailed out by Friday). Just hope my friend gets hers before she leaves the country for half a year!!
just a little preview which in my opinion actually gives it away...

Anyway, I don't know if anyone still reads this blog. BUT I miss it so I hope to be posting a bit more this holidays. :)

Hurah for procrastination!

Anyway I am meant to be working on a comic fror my University's Student Services and my deadline got pushed to TOMORROW! So naturally I can think of a million other things to do.

Such as LISTEN TO CHRISTMAS CAROLS! Christmas is one of my favourite times of year but its been a bit different from other years this year. For one I have been BUSY BUSY BUSY! Having been working nearly all of my holidays so far (almost a month and a half), working on other projects, coaching on a leadership program, being really involved in my church youth group, diocesan youth events, not to mention this internship I got and this comic I am meant to be finishing...

But secondly I have been CAROLLING (as part of my youth group)! It's been SO much fun! I haven't sang this much since high school!! but it's really got the Christmas spirit in me. For once it actually feels like Christmas! And have been listening to carol covers on youtube too!!

Safe to say I have been packing my days and it is a little tiring.

BUT I do want to update because on top of all that, I'm getting my designing-crafting ON! (that totally didnt make sense) in any case I will post those up after this as this little update post is getting long enough!!

I will leave you with the lovely Gabe Bondoc and his cover of Harry Conic Jr's "Sleigh Ride" (one of my favourites!)

AND a photo of the christmas lights I hung up in my room last week, it's festive! :)

Don't know why..

But for some reason it's not letting me post from my iPad... :(

November 4, 2011

It finally came!

So I finally have my new iPad and I have to say its pretty Snazzy. I've had it opened for only an hour and I am already procrastinating like crazy! Really should be working of photography but just wanted to play n my new toy. I guess it's good cos I might use it to get back into blogging, which is something I've been wanting to do and I can always just use it to get back into journalling.

Anyway I think I have procrastinated enough. Time to work one my assignment!

WOO! Yay for engraving! Should probably post about the VizMarathon..
*huzzah for toy story reference

just a little bit fancy..

Been practising hand lettering with the quill I got in Italy.

With my quill and ink. First wrote on some scrap paper.

Rewrote it NOT on scrap paper and scanned, it bled a bit..

Don't know if I like the original or the rewritten on better..

YAY for procrastination! :)

TIme to work on my video! Not looking forward to the render time...

too much solidworks

OMG.. I am spending WAY too much time on Solidworks.

I need to better divide my working time with my other subjects but with next weeks deadline I don't like it just sitting there when I am not even halfway done and NOT  happy with my work at the moment. DAMN YE DISSATISFACTION! Though I guess I do have it to thank for most of the work I've done that I have been extremely proud to call my own.

Anyhows, here is a screen shot of my work so far..

Colour scheme is not working right now as I don't have a defined palette. Spending time on colourlovers looking for contrasting colour schemes to use on my black and white chess sets. OR I can just find one I really like and invert the colours (if the inverted palette looks good). I think I am going for a cool/cold vs. warm/hot thing going.

Still need to fix up the stupid ROOK. I kind of like it but I don't because I feel it doesn't tie in with the rest of the set well (though not having it rendered at all is just exaggerating the fact). I haven't even designed the board yet, I should do that before I go to bed, or at least have some ideas down on paper so I can play around on Solidworks with my ideas.

Blah. Blah. CAD. Ramble. Ramble. UNI. Blah. Whine. Bleh...

Ah life..

Just a little bit of fun.. a running joke with a friend.

UNI update!

Just a little update on what's been going on at uni recently.

Below you can see some cardboard coat hangers which we designed for our Structure, Form and Material in Industrial Design subject. We were asked to design and construct a coat hanger out of fashion card (or any lighter weight cardboard) which would be able to hold a 2.6kg winter coat. The photo below is a display of some of the designs from the course.

Level 6, Building 6, UTS

This was my design and was lucky enough to be chosen for showcase. Mine was the lightest on display (that had already been weighed) at only 21g, i think..

Next is from my Ergonomics class. We were asked to make up personas to test our interface designs on. This is one of the personas we had in my group which I made up. Her name is Chi Chi, a 70 year old retiree who spends her time making crafts which she sells at weekend markets around the city.

we had to cut up magazines and things to stick on paper to represent our personas. Definitely one of our funner classes this semester.

And alas I am on my mid semester break with lots of work do to before the break is over..

Business card?

If you saw my post before about the Golden Tickets I'm selling on Fiverr...

Yeah I don't know where I was going with that sentence but the point is, I thought I would design myself a business card to post with the tickets..

So here it is!

I made a little thank you card too! :)

I don't have them printed professionally.. I just print it on normal copy paper and stick the two sides together.
I'm heaps pro!

Based on the golden tickets in 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory', both the text on the front and back are customisable; 'company' name (fake or otherwise), the prize (if you don't want to see Willy Wonka's factory) and the terms and conditions on the back.

If want my to make you some of these babies just head to
Buy 5 of the same print and get 1 FREE!

Slight pause from my usual (but by no means frequent) designy posts..

But yeah. back at uni, one week has gone by. And there is one way I know I'm REALLY back at uni, I'm cutting up cardboard on the floor again! HOORAH! Not really. I have having limited supplies of stuff. I need to go by more cardboard. I always feel bad for 'wasting' resources when im testing when I know I dont have much of the material. Especially when I can see the amount of it reducing as I go. I'm one of those stingy, eco people. I dont like to spend money and I dont like seeing material going to 'waste'.

In my mind good prototypes are perfect in terms of that design. I hate seeing things not work. i hate making mistakes. Everything needs to work. Every bit thought out thoroughly.

I hate being a perfectionist sometimes. Need to stop thinking and just do. In the words of Nike.

Oh and I still havent found something to write with... but for once i know where my stanley knife is.

So I have FINALLY submitted my shirt design to Threadless!

Please support me and score (preferably a 5). Just click the link here. There is also a link on the left column.

I really need the money that I could receive from getting it printed so that I can make it to Spain for World Youth Day this year.

Thank you everyone! And don't forget to spread the word!

WYD Madrid 2011 take 3!

WYD Poster

So my friend has asked me to design a WYD poster for uni. I was excited all YAY! Something to add to my portfolio!! BUT I am having an epic mind blank. Here is what I had so far.. But nothing that Im really liking unfortunately..

February 17, 2011

So half way through my work experience week at Red Ape. Been doing a little design work for them but its thier down time so half the time the designers/illustrators just sit around LOOKING for work to do.

Anyway I am having a GREAT time. Ive been designing packaging, skateboards, doing some illustration and had a go and storyboard layouts. Also lots of image sourcing...

But here are some of the skateboard stuff I did today. The company want to design some cool skateboards for some reason..? Either for sale or just for some art to hang round the place but apparently the creative director has connections with people who can print for us..?
. I designed all the patterns and added one of the illustrators design. Top one is all mine. :)
Note that the illustrations on the bottom two arent mine. Copyright Jeremy Bondoc.

I would have more stuff but Illustrator CS5 files don't open to well on CS4.

Well hopefully I can get a copy of all my work by the end of the week to add to my portfolio!

crafts in rouge tones

I made a brooch today! I was meant to be doing some Valentine's craft but it didnt turn out how I wanted.. So in any case I made a mess in my room and computer table. Kind of altered a dress and made some blooming felt.
Crafty supplies

I'm good at making mess

Everything else i have done today, not much I must say.

I also started designing some digital art which I can hopefully print and give to my girls for Valentine's instead of what I was trying to do today. I do have something else in mind to craft for V-day though I think it's all very cliche..

That is all

Some more finished cards!

They're pretty much all done, but you get the idea right..?

January 20, 2011

So like this blog, I recently (last night at 3am) gave my tumblr a make over! Changed the general theme and uploaded my own background (some of my photography).

It was a BIG pain in the **** because it wouldn't let me upload the image I wanted for some strange reason. It kept saying it needed to be a particular size and file type which I had saved and adjusted accordingly but NO. And to this day it's still not the image I intended it to be but close enough.

So here's the BEFORE

And the image I was going to use. They're pretty similar though.

So click and check it out! or don't

Hoorah! for shameless promotion! :)
